Dupe (de-yoop) 2 or more nail colours that look very similar. The dupe is usually cheaper. For example, dupes for China Glaze's For Audrey can be Orly's Gumdrop, or Finger Paints' Tiffany Imposter.
Franken (fran-ken) a customizable type of polish that you make yourself by mixing 2 or more different colours of polish and/or glitters.

Gradient (gray-dee-ent) a manicure where 2(or more) colours are blended to create a gradient on one nail.
Matte (mat) a nail polish or topcoat that gives the colour a dull, not glossy finish.
Ombre (om-bray) usually wrongly confused with Gradient, ombre is when each nail in a manicure/hand are painted different shades of one colour, or different colours of the same family.
Shimmer (shi-murr) a polish with lots of very small glitters, making the polish look sparkley (shimmery)

Skittles (skit-ls) original- at least 2 polishes are used to cover multiple nails, so that they looks like "skittles," does not have to be in the same colour family. modified- using as many polishes as needed, a manicure where each nail has a different design
Swatch (swach) a model of a nail colour for others to see, usually accompanied by a review of the colour
